A Cowboy Eulogy…

A fine Cowboy has gone through heavens gate
To meet with Peter and Paul to discuss his fate
Never more on this earth shall we see
Until our judgment day if we truly believe

So raise you heads and look up high
And you will see him a ridin' in the sky
Sittin' straight and on a cowpony so fine
I am proud to say he was a pard' of mine

No tears of grief for him shall I shed
For it was a Cowboy's way of life he led
And when my day is over and my work all done
Once more I will ride with him beneath heaven's sun

Special Tribute to Doyle Don Holloway Jr.
April 13th
DOYLE DON HOLLOWAY JR.
1955-2002

Before starting the playday on April 13th we had a special tribute to Doyle. As Dwain Crawford led a riderless horse around the arena, Pat Murphy read this tribute. Doyle was a great friend, and a special person, we will miss him.

This is just a short Heart felt tribute to that special person. Doyle became a friend to everyone he came into contact with. He was always wearing a smile. He's a friend that will be dearly missed. Doyle was an asset to this club, and he took a lot of pride in keeping an eye over the clubs grounds. And he was ALWAYS there ready to help, whether it was helping set-up events during the playday, or merely cleaning-up afterwards. Doyle was an honest, caring person who ALWAYS seemed to be happy. He was a good friend, one that could brighten your day. Then there's his phrases that we'll all miss, "What-cha do'in" "Did ya see me ride" "How much ya sell me that horse for," "Zac, you better mind your momma" and "Pat, you gonna get here early" When Doyle came through those arena gates, he wasn't worried about trying to place, he was just doing what he loved to do , and that was to ride his horse. You know, Doyle may not have made it to that first place ribbon, but he did make it to first place in our hearts and memories. And he will be there for years to come. That was the type of person he was and the affect he had on people. Galatians 5:22 refers to the fruitage of the spirit which are { love, joy, peace, mildness, goodness, long-suffering, self-control and kindness } Doyle displayed ALL of these qualities . On several occasions, when there was only the few that stayed after the playday to clean and lockup, Doyle was heard saying "I'll do that ,you go home, you've got a family to take care of "or" You have a long way to drive, Let me finish that for you" or simply "You need some help?" There's some of us here today that could use some of Doyle's qualities, myself included. So, let's make this a Doyle Holloway playday season this year. Let's get along with each other , and be helpful to one another from this playday today to the last one of the year. And our hearts do go out to Doyle's family.
