CLOVERLEAF
BARREL RACE This is a timed event. Rider will cross
timer line, make a 360 degree turn around the first barrel, go across
arena, make a 360 degree turn around the second barrel, then make a 360
degree turn around the third barrel and return between first and second
barrels, crossing timer line. This is known as a cloverleaf barrel pattern.
Rider may run either right or left pattern. 1. Three (3) 55-gallon standard oil drums
placed in a triangle formation ninety (90) feet apart for a cloverleaf pattern. First and
second barrels are sixty (60) feet from timer line. Measurements should be taken from the
center of barrels. Barrels must be a minimum of fifteen (15) feet from any arena
fence. 2. Barrels must have barrel protectors. A five (5) second penalty will be added
to the rider’s time for knocking over a barrel. 2. Failure to complete the race. As many judges as needed to observe
pattern and set up any barrels in the proper place when knocked over.
